Day 2: Aigues-Mortes, La Camargue, and Les-Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer

A magnificent walled medieval town, Aigues-Mortes was originally built as the departure

point for the 7th and 8th Crusades to the Holy Land. It is now a charming place to wonder at

history, see the saltworks, and the colorful boats. Les-Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is a center of

religious interest and gypsy culture.

• 7:30 am: Breakfast

• 8:30 am: Depart for Aigues-Mortes

• 9:00 am: Tour Aigues-Mortes

• 12.00 pm: Restaurant lunch

• 2.00 pm: Depart for Les-Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, enjoying en route a visit

to a bird sanctuary and the scenery of the Camargue national park

• 6 pm: Return to St. Clément

• 7pm: Apéritif and Dinner

Day 3: Uzès: Market Day

Considered one of the best markets in France, Uzès offers beautiful period buildings and

streets, plus delightful cafés and shopping.

• 7.30am: Breakfast

• 8.30am: Depart for Uzès

• 9:30 am: Tour of Ducal city of Uzès

• 12.00: Traditional leisurely French lunch

• 2.30pm Duché d’Uzès wine tasting

• 3.30pm: Pont du Gard, a magnificent Roman aqueduct, a UNESCO world

heritage site

• 6:30pm: Return to St. Clément

• 7:30pm: Apéritif and Dinner

Day 4: Arles and Nîmes

The cities of Arles and Nîmes, both UNESCO world heritage sites, were key communication

centers in the history of the Roman Empire. Van Gogh lived in Arles for almost 2 years, and

produced over 300 paintings and drawings of the area.

• 7.30am: Breakfast

• 8.30am: Depart for Baux de Provence (through fields painted by Van Gogh)

• 10am: Art show at Carrières de Lumière

• 12.00pm: Lunch in Arles

• 2.00pm: Arles visit: hospital garden, Café de la Nuit, and Coliseum

• 5:00pm: Depart for Nîmes; tour of important sites

• 7:30pm Farewell Dinner

Day 5: Time permitting, brief tour of Sommières and Au Revoir

With its ancient Roman bridge, the charming town of Sommières is full of interesting

medieval references..

• 8:00am: Breakfast

• 9:00am: Depart for Sommières with packed luggage, ready for your

departure

• 10:00am: Tour center of town
